Attorney Mary Patton Recognized for Volunteer Work at University Of Kentucky

Attorney Mary Ellis Patton was recently recognized by the University of Kentucky as the Fraternity and Sorority Life Chapter Advisor of the Year. The Chapter Advisor of the Year award seeks to recognize a chapter advisor who exemplifies the mission, values, and purpose of their organization, contributes significantly to the success of the local chapter, and demonstrates superb mentorship for members of the chapter.

Mary received this award in recognition of her work with the Delta Zeta Sorority in her role as the Recruitment and Membership Advisor. Mary has been on the advisory board for Delta Zeta, Alpha Theta Chapter at the University of Kentucky since 2013.  The advisory board provides advice and guidance to members of the collegiate chapter.

The Constitution of Delta Zeta states “The purpose of this sorority shall be to unite its members in the bonds of sincere and lasting friendship, to stimulate one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote the moral and social culture of its members, and to develop plans for guidance and unity in action; objects worthy of the highest aim and purpose of associated effort.”  College Chapter Director, Dr. Alecia Soyk Manning, wrote that Mary truly exemplifies the purposes of the sorority in both her role as an advisor, but also her personal and professional life.

In her nomination, the chapter president, Julia Kelliher said Mary is selfless and loving, and treats the chapter members as family.  Kelliher wrote, “She supports, she gives back, and she does it all with the best attitude.”  Chapter members also said that she listens and advises, but lets the them make their own decisions.

Congratulations, Mary!
