Grace Jeter Appointed Chair of Kentucky SILC

Bluegrass Elderlaw Attorney Amy Dougherty’s term as Chair of the Kentucky Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) ended in April 2023, and our paralegal Grace Jeter was elected by the Council to serve the next two-year term.

Amy and Grace knew each other from both serving on the SILC before Grace came to work for Bluegrass Elderlaw.

SILC is a federally mandated nonprofit organization established under authority of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. It is a federally mandated entity and Council members are appointed by the governor.

The purpose of SILC is to promote a philosophy of independent living for Kentuckians with disabilities and to maximize the integration and full inclusion of individuals with significant disabilities into the mainstream of society.

During her term, Amy worked hard to help SILC acquire 501(c)(3) status. Grace intends to continue in Amy’s footsteps as SILC continues its work and establishes itself with its new nonprofit status.

Congratulations, Grace!
